Knee-jerk reactions
Was thinking about this today. We all develop knee-jerk reactions to a lot of things in life. These also constitute habits. The difference is most habits are actions. But knee-jerks are reactions.
Some are actually good. You see a red-light. You stop. (lets assume you do) You see a bus coming towards you. You run away. (definitely should do) But for many, I find these funny.
Incident : Anyone accused of rape. Knee-Jerk Reaction : Declared guilty by media. Mobs attack his house.
I : Anything religious assumed controversial. KJR : Riots, nothing less will suffice.
I : Indian team wins a match. KJR : Team is a world champion.
I : Indian team loses a match. KJR : Team is crap. Mobs attack.
I : Batsman hits a six. KJR : Good shot. He is the best player.
I : Batsman gets out trying a six. KJR : Is he blind? Can’t he see?
I : Guj CM says anything. KJR : Hindutva and hindutva.
I : Your bai takes an unannounced sick leave. KJR : She is a lying bitch.
I : You take an unannounced sick leave. KJR : Your boss, if not understanding, is a bastard.
I : Salman Khan in news. KJR : Which poor people did he mow down now?
I : Gov servant or politician. KJR : Corrupt.
I : Businessman. KJR : Black money.
I : Police. KJR : Human rights violation.
I : Child punished in school. KJR : Teacher hates my child.
I : Child gets poor marks. KJR : Teacher hates my child.
I : Child in fight. KJR : Poor child, everyone gangs up against him.
I : You get a promotion. KJR : All my good work.
I : Your rival gets a promotion. KJR : My boss is biased against me.
And on and on and on.
Saves time. Saves energy. What else does a person want…
