Misplaced anger
Anger is one of the most common of all the emotions. Anger can exist even in the absence of any other emotion. That makes it all the more powerful and dangerous.
The power of anger comes from the realization that there is anger. Once an individual realises that there is anger, s/he works to set the thing right which caused the anger. If anger is gone by that time, then the action is successful.
Anger has helped in the sense that the opposite party fears you. They are afraid of the action you might take in anger. The things you might say. So in some situations anger does work. But in other situations its misplaced.
Anger comes for 3 reasons 1. Frustration towards self - meaning if you feel that you have been discriminated against or you have not got what think you rightly deserve. 2. Frustration towards others or situations - meaning you feel that someone else has been discriminated against or the situation which has risen has created problems for everyone. 3. Body anger - meaning the body gets tense in some situations because of hunger or pain. like you are hungry and about to start eating and then someone calls you up and starts the most boring discourse.
Anger is also dangerous in the sense that anger replaces reason. An action which has to be thought out with reason is thought out with anger with adverse consequences. Anger is more like body fever. If some one has a body fever and does anything, it is bound to go wrong, because of all the dizziness and diminished mental understanding.
Body fever is a symptom of a disease. Its not a disease. Fever says that there is some problem in the body. Maybe malaria or weakness or something else. Knowing that an individual takes pills, to treat fever as well as the other disease.
Similarly anger is a symptom. Of discontentment, of frustration. Its not a disease. So while taking a step, one should not take a step with anger. Take a pill for the anger as well as for that frustration. Anger can be calmed by deep breaths, by taking a pause or even taking a shower or anything which distracts the mind away from anger. Frustration can be calmed by taking steps and working at the source.
A man goes into a restaurant. He is very hungry and orders something. But the food which he gets, lets say is undercooked or overcooked. He gets angry. He calls the waiter and completely blasts him. Taking a pause here. He is angry (symptom) because firstly his food is bad (cause) and secondly he is very hungry (cause). His step in anger is to blast the waiter. (action in anger) But did the waiter actually cook the food? Nope. He is just serving it. (misplaced anger)
What he can do take a deep breath or have a glass of water (anger pill) and then call the waiter or the manager (symptom pill). And politely tell him that you can't eat this food. Because its bad and ask for a replacement.
In the first case the man seems like a child. A child acts without reason. He does whatever he wants to do. But an adult can't afford to lose his reason.
Many people have talked about growing blind with rage and then not realising what they are doing. They blame it on the rage. But just one word can start the calming effect. Rage is a "SYMPTOM". Remembering just one word can bring back the reason. And I guess with enough practice, anyone can remember that word.
